Until the employee reaches the age of 20, at least 5 weeks of vacation. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 329a, paragraph 1<\/a>  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If an employee joins or leaves the company during the year, the vacation entitlement is calculated based on the duration of the employment relationship. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 329a, paragraph 3<\/a> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two weeks of vacation must be taken consecutively. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 329c, paragraph 1<\/a> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The employer determines the timing of the vacation, while taking the employee\u2019s preferences into account. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 329c, paragraph 2<\/a> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vacation time may not be paid out during the term of employment. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 329d, paragraph 2<\/a> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vacation time does not expire at the end of the year. The right to vacation time does not expire until after 5 years. \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Art. 128, paragraph 3<\/a>  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional laws regarding vacation time (e.g., reductions) can be found in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/opc\/de\/classified-compilation\/19110009\/index.html#a329a\" target=\"_blank\">the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two ways to enter time entries into the system<\/h2>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Automatic Entitlement Determination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manually Entered Claims<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend that you <strong>always <\/strong><strong> use<\/strong> <strong>the automatic claims <\/strong>. Only <strong>corrections should <\/strong>be <strong>entered manually <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the name suggests, automatic entitlements are calculated by the system itself. Accrued annual leave cannot be deleted! <\/strong> <strong>Changes to entitlements are only possible if they have not (yet) been assigned to any employees; otherwise, this may lead to errors in vacation entry!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enable \/ Assign Automatic Vacation Entitlements<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong>new employee profiles<\/strong>, the entitlement must be selected when setting up the entry profile. <strong>Save <\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Calculation Method:<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law always refers to \u201cvacation weeks.\u201d The number of vacation days that such a week corresponds to depends on the employment relationship\u2014more specifically, on the number of workdays per workweek. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EXAMPLE<br\/>Let\u2019s take as an example a company that offers 4 weeks of vacation per year. An employee who works 5 days a week year-round is entitled to <strong>4 weeks of vacation * 5 workdays\/week = 20 vacation days<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an employee joined or left the company during the year, Swiss law requires that vacation entitlement be calculated based on the duration of the employment relationship. The law does not specify exactly how this calculation should be performed. In practice, there are two methods:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For accounting purposes: For simplicity, every month is treated the same (30 days).
