The system supports both the manual setting of breaks based on times (e.g. from 12:00 to 13:00) and the statutory observance of breaks.

Calculating the break time #

The break time is recorded on the basis of the first and last recorded time, minus the recorded hours.

For example, an employee records from 8:00 – 9:30, from 10:00 – 12:30 and from 13:00 – 17:00.
The attendance time from 8:00 – 17:00 = 9 hours
The recorded hours are now deducted from this.
9hours – 1.5 hours – 2.5 hours – 4 hours = 1 hour break time


Recorded break time or break time added by rules #

If a time type with the setting “Break” exists and this is also recorded or added by a rule, it is added to the calculated break time.

If a break time from 15:00 – 15:15 is added to the above example by a rule.
1hour + 0.25 hours = 1.25 hours break time


Automatic break deduction for statutory entitlement #

The system can enforce compliance with the statutory breaks. If the legal requirement is not met, the necessary break is automatically added.

The examination takes place in two stages. The first stage checks compliance with the minimum break per day.

The second stage checks the complete break times per day, graded according to the working time (attendance time).

For example, an employee records from 07:30 – 12:00 and from 12:30 – 17:15, resulting in a break time of 0.5 hours for a working time of 9.25 hours.
The system would now increase the break from 0.5 hours to 1 hour.

> 7.5 hrs.= 0.5 – pause time
> 7.25 hours **= 0.5 – (7.5 – recorded hours) – break time
> 5.75 hrs.= 0.25 – pause time
> 5.5 hours **= 0.25 – (5.75 – recorded hours) – break time

** The system takes into account that the recorded hours are not covered by the entitlement. For example, a break deduction of 1 hour would not be correct for 9.75 hours of working time, as only 8.75 hours were worked after the break deduction, but this in turn would only result in a break deduction of 0.5 hours. In this case, the system would make a break deduction of 0.75 hours.
